Damage to allotment structures in high winds

Message from Allotment Service, City Parks, Brighton & Hove City Council - Monday 6 January 2014

Brighton & Hove has taken a battering in recent weeks from the stormy weather and a number of tenants and site representatives have reported that a lot of sheds, greenhouses and fences have been damaged by the strong winds on some of our more exposed allotment sites.
Please check your plots for signs of storm damage and make any necessary running repairs.

It looks like we’re in for more storms and high winds in the coming weeks so please also make sure that any loose wood, glass or plastic etc. is tied or weighted down to prevent any further damage.

Please also be aware of the risks of debris from damaged structures becoming airborne in high winds, causing further damage to nearby sheds and greenhouses.
